Program Introduction:
Global. Hyper-competitive. Multi-dimensional. Dynamic. These are just a few words which could be used to describe the New World in which we live and operate. Indeed, this New World is dramatically different from anything which humankind has witnessed before. And it demands a different kind of business person. . . someone who can work fluidly across cultures and in different languages, who leads and inspires with vision and integrity, who understands and appreciates complexity, who thrives on change.
The BMI MBA program was designed specifically to develop this business person— it responds directly to the demands of the New World. It is international at its very core, with all international students, international professors, international materials, and international experiences. It integrates conceptual and theoretical knowledge with practical skills. It is rooted in experiential learning, providing opportunities for realistic hands-on applications. It is the NEW MBA.
Are you prepared for the New World? Do you have the knowledge and skills to succeed? Are you ready to become the New You?
Program Details:
The BMI MBA is a 12 month full-time program consisting of 90 ECTS credits.
It is an integrated, international management program, infused with entrepreneurial spirit and rooted in experiential learning. The curriculum allows students to challenge each other in real-life situations, in a corporate environment, preparing them for leadership in the New World.
Curriculum Total 90 ECTS
The MBA curriculum consists of 4 components:
1. Modules
2. Workshops
3. Integration
4. Language and Culture
ECTS and Learning Hours*:
With 1 ECTS = 30 Learning Hours
2 700 Total Learning Hours
48 Weeks Full-Time
Average of 56.25 Learning Hours per Week
*Based on European standard of 1 Year = 60 ECTS = 1 500 to 1 800 Learning Hours (where 1 year = 8/9 months of full-time study)
Location
BMI is located in Barcelona, Spain—a beautiful, cosmopolitan, Mediterranean city. The city offers many leisure options for all tastes. You can enjoy the Barcelona beaches or the many cultural activities that take place in the city. The Barcelona lifestyle teaches BMI students how to enjoy life and take it slowly, even when your business is in the fast lane.
Modules
Modules deliver conceptual and theoretical foundations of business such as Finance, Marketing, and Human Resources. Modules are taken sequentially, ensuring that students can focus on each subject and learn it fully.
Workshops
Workshops are dedicated to building essential skills in areas such as negotiation, leadership and communication. These workshops provide key skills that are often overlooked in traditional MBA programs.
Integration
Integration activities provide realistic business administration opportunities to apply the conceptual and theoretical foundations from the modules using the skills of the workshops.
International Practicum
The International Practicum is an experiential project in which students explore a specific international business issue. This issue could be functional, industrial, geographical, cultural, and/or topical in nature. In order to complete the project, students conduct research in one or more countries during a one week field trip. The field trip includes lectures, factory tours, and meetings with company managers, social events, and cultural visits.
StratSim Management Business Simulation
StratSim is one of the industry-leading business simulations. It centers on the highly competitive, complex, and changing automobile industry. It provides students with the opportunity to practice the concepts and theories of business administration by allowing them to ‘manage’ all aspects of an automobile manufacturer over a multi-year period of simulated competition. Teams of students challenge each other as managers of competing companies in the same industry.
Consulting Project
The capstone integration activity in the BMI MBA is the Consulting Project. You will work at an outside company as a strategic consultant on a real business problem under the guidance of a Professor. The project and company are chosen to match your particular business interests.
This Consulting Project is conducted in four phases, each including presentation and feedback:
1. Strategic Analysis of the Company (Internal)
2. Strategic Analysis of the Industry (External)
3. Evaluation of Areas of Opportunity/Threat (Matching Internal and External)
4. Development of Recommended Solutions (Idea generation/Presentation/Discussion)
Language and Culture
Language lessons are part of the MBA curriculum. This means BMI students need not pay any extra for language classes. Lessons are integrated into the regular schedules. The lessons are offered according to each individual’s level as determined by the placement test given to all entering MBA students.
In addition to in-class Spanish language lessons, students will also discover aspects of the Spanish and Catalan cultures through monthly cultural activities in the city and with supplementary readings introduced in the classroom.
The ultimate goal is for students to reach a level of comfort in using the Spanish language at an advanced level. This enables beginning Spanish speakers to function well during their stay in Barcelona, and communicate effectively in business situations.
Professors
BMI professors are affiliated with the very best academic institutions in the world, such as Harvard, Stanford, MIT, and the University of Michigan. Some courses are also taught by business leaders from top global companies. You will have unparalleled access to the best minds in business in an intimate classroom setting.
All BMI professors share a passionate dedication to learning. They will lead you and inspire you; it’s their job and their passion. It’s their job.
As you progress through your studies, our professors will arrive in Barcelona from all across the globe in order to guide you through the BMI curriculum.
They will question and challenge you because they know the New World requires it. And they themselves have mastered the new world.
